KVH’s mini-VSAT Broadband service delivers fast, reliable, global connectivity
Launched in late 2007, the mini-VSAT Broadband network has quickly grown to become the maritime industry’s No. 1 VSAT service.1 This success came from leveraging advanced technology designed specifically for mobile applications to unlock the power of commercial satellites that cover the world’s oceans. KVH built the service from the ground up to provide the best in maritime broadband.
mini-VSAT Broadband network: No. 1 maritime VSAT network,
one unified C-/Ku-band network covering 95% of Earth
Upgrading with modulation technology and new capacity
KVH’s mini-VSAT Broadband is one of the highest quality, most reliable maritime VSAT services on the planet and KVH is continuously upgrading it to improve customer experience. For example, KVH recently implemented ArcLight’s Adaptive Coding, Spreading, and Modulation (ACSM) technology, and tripled mini-VSAT Broadband’s capacity worldwide. ACSM technology focuses performance improvement on the forward link to the terminals onboard the vessels, enabling transmissions to adapt better to conditions such as rain, and thereby providing more consistent data speeds for bridge and crew. The mini-VSAT Broadband network utilizes optimal commercial satellite capacity provided by such leading satellite operators as Intelsat, Eutelsat, Telstar, SES, and SKY Perfect JSAT. As the customer base grows, KVH has access to abundant capacity from these global leaders to assure a continued high level of service. Adding new capacity is a fast, dynamic process and fielded terminals on vessels worldwide are automatically updated over the air to take advantage of the new satellite capacity so all customers benefit from future expansion.
