LAN Settings

The LAN Settings page of the system's web interface or KVH Manager allows you to configure the Hub's system's local area network (LAN). The Hub includes four Ethernet ports and a built-in wireless access point (WAP), all of which can provide Internet access for users onboard the vessel.

Basic Network Connections (Example – Default Configuration)

By default, the LAN has a gateway of 192.168.5.1 and assigns IP addresses in the 192.168.5.50-150 range. If this configuration conflicts with an existing onboard network, you may change the IP address, subnet mask, and/or DHCP range at either the system's web interface or KVH Manager.

IMPORTANT! The default LAN settings work well for most installations. Do not change these settings unless absolutely necessary.

To make a change, go to the LAN Settings page and select Edit under the Ethernet settings. Select Save when you are done.

Note: x.x.x.1 and x.x.x.2 cannot be included in the DHCP range. These IP addresses are reserved for internal use. For example, if the LAN has a gateway of 192.168.5.1, then your DHCP range must start with 192.168.5.3 or later.
