Data Usage

The Data Usage page of KVH Manager displays the following information related to the terminal's Starlink data usage:

  • Estimated total amount of data used by the terminal during the current billing cycle, as of the latest report (see UTC timestamp)
  • Current data plan to which the terminal is subscribed
  • Amount of data allotted each month under that data plan
  • Graphical representations of the amount of data the terminal has used, as of the latest report (see UTC timestamp)

IMPORTANT! Data usage information is not updated in real time. Displayed information might be up to 24 hours old due to the refresh rate of usage data provided by Starlink. In addition, usage might appear as overage on the first day of the month due to delayed reporting.

Note: If you are authorized on the account, you can access the eBill website from the menu in the upper-right corner.

The Data Usage page also allows you to opt in or out of Priority Overage or Automatic Top-ups, which apply only after you have consumed your plan's monthly allowance. If you are a Global Priority subscriber, your data plan specifies which applies – either Overage data (billed by GB used) or Top-Ups (billed in 25 GB or 250 GB data blocks). If you are a Local Priority subscriber, automatic Top-ups (billed in 50 GB data blocks) apply. The following sections explain how these options work.

Global Priority Overage

If you have reached 100% of your plan's monthly allowance, the Data Usage page shows how much overage data has been consumed beyond your monthly allowance. This overage data is categorized by the following types:

  • Priority Overage: Billable high-speed overage data used while Opted-In to Priority Overage
  • Free (Unlimited): Non-priority overage data (unbilled) while Opted-Out of Priority Overage; service speeds limited to 1 Mbps down and 512 Kbps up

To Opt-In or Opt-Out, set the slider next to Priority Overage to your desired state. A countdown will appear, indicating the time remaining until the state change is processed. To view usage data in finer detail, go to the Daily Billed Usage page.

Global Priority Top-Ups

If you have reached 100% of your plan's monthly allowance, the Data Usage page shows how much additional data has been consumed beyond your monthly allowance. This overage data is categorized by the following types:

  • Top-Up: Billable high-speed Priority data used while Opted-In to automatic top-ups; top-ups are automatically added to your Starlink account as needed, in your choice of 25 GB or 250 GB blocks
  • Free (Unlimited): Non-priority overage data (unbilled) while Opted-Out of automatic top-ups; service speeds limited to 1 Mbps down and 512 Kbps up

To Opt-In or Opt-Out, select the desired option under "Automatic Top-Ups." A countdown will appear, indicating the time remaining until the state change is processed. While you are opted into 25 GB or 250 GB top-ups, the Top-Up History section will keep a running list of the top-up data blocks that were automatically added to your account during the current month.

IMPORTANT! Top-ups do not roll over to the next month. Any unused portion of a data block will expire at the end of the month, and you will not be reimbursed for unused data.

Local Priority Top-Ups

If you have reached 100% of your plan's monthly allowance, the Data Usage page shows how much additional data has been consumed beyond your monthly allowance. This overage data is categorized by the following types:

  • Top-Up: Billable high-speed Priority data used while Opted-In to automatic top-ups; top-ups are automatically added to your Starlink account in 50 GB blocks, as needed

While you are opted into 50 GB top-ups, the Top-Up History section will keep a running list of the 50 GB top-up data blocks that were automatically added to your account during the current month.

IMPORTANT! Top-ups do not roll over to the next month. Any unused portion of a 50 GB data block will expire at the end of the month, and you will not be reimbursed for unused data.
