Shore Wi-Fi WAN Settings

The TracNet antenna system can connect to an available shore-based Wi-Fi network to provide Internet connectivity, either automatically or manually (see WAN Selection). To set up one or more shore-based Wi-Fi networks for the system to use, go to the WAN Settings page of the web interface or KVH Manager and select the Wi-Fi tab.

Turning Shore Wi-Fi On/Off

The TracNet antenna's Wi-Fi is turned On by default. (If you would like to disable the Wi-Fi WAN connection, while keeping the VSAT and cellular WAN connections enabled, set the Wi-Fi to OFF.)

Adding a Wi-Fi Network

With its Wi-Fi turned on, the TracNet antenna will search for any Wi-Fi networks that are broadcasting in the immediate area. To add one of these detected networks to the list of Preferred Networks for Internet access, select the network name (SSID), enter the password for that network, then select Join.

To add a network that was not detected, select Advanced Wi-Fi Settings. Then select "+" and enter the following for the desired Wi-Fi network:

  • Network name (SSID)
  • Security protocol
  • Password

Removing a Wi-Fi Network

To remove a network from the list of available shore-based Wi-Fi networks, select Advanced Wi-Fi Settings. Select the network you want to remove then select "-" (minus button).
