WAN Trunking
IMPORTANT! WAN trunking is an advanced networking feature that should only be configured by an ICT professional.
The WAN trunking option enables you to use your own network appliance, such as a CommBox Edge Communications Gateway, to manage and switch between the TracNet system's available WAN connections (VSAT, cell, and Wi-Fi). When you select a port configuration that supports WAN trunking (see Port Configurations), Ethernet port 4 on the TracNet BDU provides direct access via VLANs to each WAN connection over a single Ethernet cable. You will need the following information to configure your network appliance:
VLAN | Egress | Device IP | Gateway | DHCP |
1703 | VSAT CONUS HS | 10.x.x.66/28 | 10.x.x.65 | No |
1704 | VSAT CONUS UL | 10.x.x.130/28 | 10.x.x.129 | No |
1705 | VSAT EMEA HS | 10.x.x.66/28 | 10.x.x.65 | No |
1706 | VSAT EMEA UL | 10.x.x.130/28 | 10.x.x.129 | No |
50 | Cell | 198.19.50.6/24 | 198.19.50.1 | No |
60 | Wi-Fi | 198.19.60.6/24 | 198.19.60.1 | No |
Note: The VSAT WAN can egress to the Internet from the KVH MegaPOP in either North America (CONUS) or Europe (EMEA). Select only CONUS or EMEA, depending on your configuration.
Note: A private 10.x.x.x/24 network was assigned to your TracNet system. You can find the IP on the Support page of the system's web interface.
The KVH VoIP service connection is also accessible via the WAN trunk on the following VLAN:
VLAN | Egress | Device IP | Gateway | DHCP |
1702 | VoIP | 10.x.x.11/29 | 10.x.x.9 | No |
If you need to access the TracNet system's web interface over the WAN trunk, you can use one of the following VLANs:
VLAN | Egress | Device IP | Gateway | DHCP |
4001 | HS LAN | 192.168.5.1/24 | 192.168.5.1 | Yes |
4002 | UL LAN | 192.168.6.1/24 | 192.168.6.1 | Yes |
