Turning On the System

To turn on the KVH antenna system, follow these steps:

RF Radiation Hazard

The antenna transmits RF energy that is potentially harmful. Make sure everyone stays more than 10 m (32 feet)14.4 m (47.3 feet)18.4 m (60.4 feet) away from the antenna while it is in use. No hazard exists directly below the antenna.

Make sure the antenna has a clear, unobstructed view of the sky.
Make sure vessel power is applied to the BDU.
Press the power button on the BDU. The BDU supplies power to the antenna. The button’s light should illuminate blue. (If the blue light is blinking, insufficient power is being supplied to the BDU.)
Wait at least five minutes for system startup. Do not turn off the BDU during this time.
