RF Radiation Hazard Area

Since a person above deck may not know which direction the antenna is pointing, you should always observe the minimum safe distance to prevent RF radiation exposure. If a person is on the same level as the antenna, the minimum distance is 42 feet (13 m). If the person is more than 6.5 feet (2 m) above the plane of the antenna’s base, the minimum distance is 101 feet (31 m). No hazard exists directly below the antenna.

NOTE: You can set up no-transmit zones to inhibit transmissions within areas frequented by passengers and/or crew. See Establishing No-Transmit Zones for details.
