Cellular WAN Settings

The TracNet antenna system can connect to an available cellular network to provide Internet connectivity, either automatically or manually (see WAN Selection). Cellular connectivity requires activation of the KVH Global SIM card (built into the antenna) and a cellular service plan subscription. Or you can insert your own third-party SIM card in the BDU and use its carrier for cell connectivity (see Using Your Own Cellular SIM Card). Switching between multiple installed SIMs is easy – simply select it from the Active SIM drop-down menu then select Activate and Restart at the confirmation window.

If you would like to disable the cellular WAN connection, while keeping the VSAT and shore Wi-Fi WAN connections enabled, simply turn off the cell connection. At the WAN Settings page of the web interface or KVH Manager, select the Cell tab then set the active cell service to OFF. You can re-enable it at any time by setting it back to ON

Note: At KVH Manager, you can enable or disable one or more KVH Global cellular service tiers. See Data Usage. If your vessel is located within the destination zone of a disabled tier, cellular connectivity will not be available regardless of the SIM card status.
